The wet-area system

The range is built to be used together. This is the order of work as the data sheets describe it. Every step names the product the documents themselves call for.

Step 1. Prime for the substrate

The WPM-C3 data sheet is direct about this. Priming is mandatory, and the primer follows the substrate. Porous surfaces take Primer SD. Non-porous take Primer NP. Damp or high-moisture substrates take Vapour Barrier first.

Step 2. Detail the corners, junctions and drains

Corners and junctions are sealed with Hybrid Sealant as a 12 mm fillet. Detailing, drains and penetrations use F.i. Band peel and stick butyl tape, which the membrane’s data sheet specifies in 80 mm tape and 18, 30, 42 and 106 mm seals.

Hybrid SealantF.i. Band tape — named in the WPM-C3 data sheet, documentation on request

Step 3. Waterproof

WPM-C3, minimum two coats by brush or long nap roller at 0.75 mm wet film each, giving 0.45 mm dry film. Two coats must total no less than 0.9 mm dry film and must not exceed 1.2 mm. Class III to AS/NZS 4858, within an AS 3740 internal wet-area system. Flood test at 48 hours.

Step 4. Screed and level

Cementitious screeds and mortar beds take Admix + in place of the gauging water for adhesion, strength and water resistance. Dosages are on its data sheet, from 2 litres per 20 kg bag.

Step 5. Tile

Diamond Commercial adhesive, C2 S1 T E, rated for external and immersed work, heated slabs and large format tile. Grouting follows after 24 hours at 22 °C.

Where this comes from

Every pairing on this page is taken from the range’s own data sheets, chiefly the WPM-C3 TDS, which names each companion product. The data sheets remain the controlling documents.
